![]() With all of these designs, I come up with the weapon first and then think of who would use them. For giant gauntlets a boxer made sense, but I didn't want to do just another bruiser, so I made her an engineer too. | ![]() Another design philosophy is to try combine concepts that aren't connected on their surface. For example here, firearms and magic have a tennuous connection, which the design is themed around. | ![]() Initially I had imagined this character as being hurling themed, however the baseball is much more iconic so I decided on that instead. A giant shield made me think of greek mythos, something I have a great interest in. |

![]() Redesign of my character Slamderella in 2024, focusing much more on the castle and brickwork visuals. I also used brushes and sprays to make her look dirty and grimy, so she would contrast with her Royal Brawl form. | ![]() When revisiting this design I leant much harder into the Cinderella basis, but gave her armor instead of a dress. Originally the armor was going to be glass, but it made the design too busy and hard to look at. | ![]() Originally this was a butternut squash on its side, but as I thought more about how it would move a classic pumpkin made more sense for a fairytale tank. |
![]() The original from 2019. With the redesign I pushed everything further, such as doubling the size of the hammer. | ![]() A summer costume for Slamderella from 2022, because a sandcastle hammer was so obvious but so fun to illustrate. | ![]() Queen Gemhilde. As this is Slamderella's evil step mother, she was designed to be her inverse; tall, slender, opulent, etc. To this end, a spear felt like the opposite of a hammer. |
![]() A Halloween costume for Gemhilde. These are a fun design exercise, combining the design motif of the character (jewels in this instance) with something new. | ![]() A pure hearted space hero. This one had the most direct inspiration from characters like Buzz Lightyear and Samus Aran when designing the suit. | ![]() I actually love doing strange pirate designs, so every time I do a set of characters there's always one. Calling a hook a weapon is a bit of a stretch, but combining lunar elements with a classic pirate look was too much for to pass up. |
![]() This design is one I actually struggled with. Attempted to incorporate clock based imagery was difficult when I had already used cogs/gears on a previous design (Locomegan). I was very happy with what I ended up with | ![]() I really like the aesthetics of vampires, but with this character I wanted to make one that had animalistic and ruthless qualities, as opposed to just being civilized and upper class. | ![]() When I design characters in this set, I design the weapon first and then consider who would use such a weapon. With a whip, it was hard not to take inspiration from movies! |
![]() From 2020, this was the first character in the set designed. At the time, I wanted to design a grim reaper that wasn't gothic/morose. | ![]() This was the first expressions exploration I did. The expressions are very cartoonish obviously because that's where my biggest design inspiration is from. | ![]() A hero pose for Scymana. This concept of scythe surfing was why I decided to make her tropical themed in the first place. |
